Bernard Dunaux
Born in Sydney Australia, Bernard Dunaux spent his formative years traveling and living overseas. Having completed his formal art studies in France, he moved to the United States in 1981 and currently works from his studio in Los Angeles. In constant search of new visual intellectual expression, Bernard Dunaux's creative process originates with what he calls a non-moment, where conscious thought ceases and shifts into movement and line, paint and canvas. Subject matter only remains a starting point, as the direct action of painting itself takes over and dictates his course. Bernard Dunaux has developed a style of seeming contrast and contradiction that paradoxically unifies rather than separates formal elements in visual harmony. Bernard's unwillingness to adhere to any one school of thought leads to finished work that is refined, refreshingly contemporary, yet strikingly classic.
